Taking deliberation online: new methods for social research?

Taking deliberation online: new methods for social research?
In this free online webinar Ceri Davies will share learning about conducting deliberative research using the online platform Zoom. This webinar uses Zoom software.

Summary/Overview

Ceri and colleagues in NatCen Social Research will share learning about conducting deliberative research using the online platform Zoom. Drawing on work completed in June 2019 for a project exploring public attitudes to post-Brexit policy making, she will share lessons and identify design and practice considerations for going online.

The webinar will involve some of the processes of a Deliberative Poll and you will be invited to consider some of the opportunities and challenges of going online. Ceri will be joined by colleagues to allow you to experience a mixture of plenary and small group discussions. This will be followed by a final plenary session to reflect on key lessons from our work and ideas for researchers on best practice using this method for future deliberative work.

These discussions will also have resonance for a range of qualitative methods in the context of social distancing.

This is a free event.

The webinar will be hosted via Zoom.
