Addressing disadvantage and improving representation in the social research profession:

Invitation to Tender

The Social Research Association is committed to improving and promoting the diversity and inclusivity of the social research profession.

As a membership body representing 1,250 social researchers at every stage of their career across the UK and Ireland, we are in an excellent position to support research into the current experiences of social researchers in respect of class, gender, disability, ethnicity, sexuality and gender identity.

We are seeking a consultant or organisation to conduct research across our membership and network to understand:

  • how organisations in the social research sector are addressing the issue of representativeness, challenging barriers to diversity and promoting inclusivity in the sector.
  • how individual social researchers from less represented groups experience diversity and inclusivity in the sector and what they think are the barriers and enablers for improved inclusivity.

The invitation to tender closed on 17 January 2020.

Would you like to participate in this research?
As noted above, we would like to speak to social researchers from less represented groups as part this research, covering class, gender, disability, LGBTQ issues and the experiences of Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) individuals.

If this is relevant to you, and you’re potentially interested in taking part, please email us at to express your interest, including contact details (including a telephone number).  We’ll then be in touch about your involvement in February 2020.  Thank you.
