The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is transforming the way its surveys collect data. It is introducing an online mode, and designing for a web-first approach to mixed-mode collection, which brings challenges and opportunities.

Ethics in practice in innovative methods - the SRA Summer Event

Innovation in research methods brings new ethical dilemmas. Research ethics committees can struggle to support researchers at the methodological frontiers. This afternoon event includes four expert speakers working with mobile methods, internet-based research, arts-based research and place-based research. Speakers will outline some of the ethical problems they encountered with these methods, and explain how they addressed those problems.

Public policies are about changing systems, but conventional approaches to their evaluation have largely ignored this insight. This conference will explore these issues with a number of leading thinkers and practitioners of systems approaches to policy development and evaluation. Speakers include Diane Finegood, Simon Fraser University, Canada, an expert in systems thinking to tackle complex problems, and Zenda Ofir, a vastly experienced evaluator.
