Independent Researchers: SRA members think-tank (Edinburgh)
The SRA represents around 100 independent researchers. We are holding a series of invitation-only free events for these members, to find out about the professional issues they face and what more we can do to help.
The event will be led by Helen Kara, independent researcher and SRA trustee, and co-hosted by Sophie Ellison, Chair of SRA Scotland branch. It will be highly participatory, and small scale, with no more than 40 people.
Press the 'Register' button for more information and to book your place.
Structure of the event:
11.30 - Coffee
12.00 - Introductions
12.15 - Intro to topic, results of advance survey
12.30 - What are the key issues you're facing as an independent researcher? Focusing on specific issues for researchers, rather than what is common to all self-employed people.
1.00 - Sandwich lunch
1.30 - Themed conversations with facilitators - focus on what SRA can do to help
2.15 - Feedback from each group
2.45 - Round-up and next steps
3.00 - Finish
3.00 - 4.00: Tea and opportunity to network
There will be a similar event in London, and we are also offering an online event for those who are unable to attend either of the face-to-face events. (The locations of the face-to-face events have been chosen because they are accessible to the largest number of our independent researcher members.)
If you are an independent researcher but not an SRA member, you are welcome to join the organisation and attend one of the events.
* May we ask you a few survey questions in advance of the event? The anonymised results will be shared at the event
